Welcome to the Virtual Gallery of the University of Maine’s Bureau of Labor Education (BLE), an extension of our mission to empower workers, students, and educators through labor history and education!
This gallery is the online version of our newly built glass showcase on the second floor of Chadbourne Hall, which features union mementos and archival materials collected by the BLE over the years. By bringing the exhibit online, we aim to make these stories more accessible and to deepen public engagement with the legacy of organized labor.
Please note that this virtual gallery presents only a small selection of our holdings. The BLE’s much more extensive archive—spanning from the early 19th century to the present—is housed at two locations on the UMaine Orono campus: the Raymond H. Fogler Library Special Collections and the Bureau of Labor Education in Chadbourne Hall. To schedule a visit, contact us at labored@maine.edu.
